Revitalising Indian-Russian ties
Will the renewed partnership develop into a political alliance?
One-time strong, relations between India and Russia are now given a boost after a landmark visit by Manmohan Singh, the Indian prime minister, to Moscow.
While the US-India civil nuclear agreement continues to draw criticism in India, Singh has struck a virtually no-strings-attached civil nuclear deal with Dmitry Medvedev, the Russian president, during the three-day visit.
What is behind the newly agreed partnership? Could this renewed partnership develop into a political alliance? And would it be a source of concern to any other country?
Inside Story discusses with guests: Arun Mohanty, a professor of international studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University and an expert in India-Russia relations, Dimitri Babich, a political analyst at Russia Profile magazine, and Ariel Cohen from the Heritage Foundation.
