Didier Deschamps’s men came into this tournament without a huge amount of fanfare, partly due to the injuries they suffered in the previous months. However, they still have bundles of talent, and probably the World Cup’s best player, in Mbappe.
Watch this space as they cannot be underestimated now.

A lot of people missed that Poland goal
People have started to leave the stadium before the end of the match. The third goal, from Mbappe, sealed it for the reigning champions, and the celebrations headed outside the stadium.
The French fans who remained jeered at their opponents and sang, “Poland, this way,” while pointing to the exits.

A convincing win for France with the late Lewandowski penalty taking the sheen of it. No one wearing blue will mind too much as they’re through to the quarter-finals to play either England or Senegal.
Poland got their goal but were well out-classed in that second half. The French players go over to their fans at the end and look delighted to be progressing.
